Although it is not so well known, the Rupea fortress is one of the most beautiful buildings in Romania, being surrounded by a charming architecture and a dreamlike view. Rupea Fortress is a peasant fortress with four fortified zones with polygonal towers. This was modified over time by the addition of two inner courtyards and three defense towers. The fortress is built on three enclosures, namely: the upper citadel, which is also the oldest construction, it includes the 50 m deep well, and the most recent extensions, including the Slaninii Tower, specific to the Saxon communities. The upper citadel has an area of over 1500 m and the defense system is based on its walls.

The Palace of Culture

A striking building with a roof decorated with colorful mosaics. It is one of the most representative buildings, in the style of the Lechnerien school. The building was constructed in just two years between 1911 and 1913, which was a remarkable achievement for the time.

The beauty of the building is emphasized by numerous frescoes and stained glass windows. The impressive 45 m long lobby is fitted with Carrara marble and two large mirrors. A special room is the “Hall of Mirrors”. This room is the finest in the palace, and houses a triptych of Venetian mirrors.

Administrative Palace

The Administrative Palace (originally the Town Hall of the Free Royal City of Targu Mures, in Hungarian Közigazgatási Palota, originally Varoshaza) was built between 1905 and 1907 at the initiative of Mayor György Bernady as the seat of the city administration of Targu Mures.

It was the first building at the beginning of the 20th century to give the city center a new look and is distinguished by its Art Nouveau style.

Medieval Castle Târgu Mureş

The entire complex of the fortress has an area of 4.3 hectares and consists of a fortified enclosure with 7 bastions connected by walls. Inside the fort were, among other things, the Calvinist Reformed Church and a warehouse.

The first fortress was destroyed as a result of an invasion in 1492.

In 1602 the reconstruction of the fortress began, pentagonal, but with only 5 bastions instead of 7. Today, various cultural-artistic events are held here.

In addition, the fortress invites you to walk, relax and eat through a small but beautiful and well-kept park and a restaurant.

Animal Park / Zoo

The animal park / zoo of Târgu Mureș is a very beautiful animal park with many, many and large green areas for the animals. It has existed since 1964 and is over 20 hectares in size. The visitor will find about 120 species and more than 500 animals in this park, it is definitely worth a visit.
