The village of Saschiz (in Saxon: Keist, Kaest; in German: Keisd; in Hungarian: Szaszkezd) is part of the municipality of the same name in Mures County, Transylvania. High up on the mountain sits the fortress of the same name.

Saschiz is located on the way from Rupea to Sighisoara, about 15 km before Sighisoara.

THE Medieval Festival in Sighisoara is a MUST for all fans of the Middle Ages, knights, princesses, and Sighisoara 🥰

From Friday (July 24) at 7 p.m. through Sunday (July 26) at 10 p.m., there will be many, many events taking place at various locations throughout the fortress and city.

At the Fortress Square in Schässburg / Sighisoara, take the street on the left, up the hill and toward the Wooden Staircase. It’s the fourth or fifth building on the left, just before the 5-star Hotel Fronius.

This place is more than just a souvenir shop… it’s a small museum of Romanian history. And if you happen to strike up a conversation with the owner… you can learn so much about Romania right here in Sighisoara 🥰

We were there in June and it is beautiful 🥰 Not crowded, yet lively with countless places you want/should see and wonderful spots to relax, linger… and enjoy.

It’s a 2-minute walk from the hotel, parking is everywhere, and the temperatures were perfect: about 30°C during the day and 18 to 22°C at night. If you’re in the area, we can recommend Sighisoara / Schässburg 1,000% 👍😍

Unassuming, but definitely not to be missed! From the Fortress Square in Schässburg / Sighisoara, take the street on the left, uphill toward the Covered Stairway. It is the fourth or fifth building on the left, just before the five-star Hotel Fronius.
